FREQUENCY OF PRE- EMPLOYMENT STRUCTURED CLINICAL INTERVIEWS (PESCI)

WHAT IS A PESCI: 

A PESCI Assessment in conducted to assess the applicant’s knowledge, skills and experience to practice safely and effectively in the position for which they are seeking Limited or Provisional Registration. A PESCI Assessment will result in either a Suitable or Unsuitable outcome. 

To be eligible to apply for a PESCI, you will need to hold a current job offer as PESCI’s are an evaluation of your suitability for a specific position.  

 

WHO PROVIDES PESCI’S: 

In Australia, PESCI’s are provided by RACGP, ACRRM and HWAV. 

 

RACGP PESCI: 

RACGP conducts PESCI Assessments for all levels of Supervision. and in various States and Territories in Australia. The frequency of RACGP PESCI’s and the States they are available in, are as follows: 

  • In Tasmania, PESCI Assessments are conducted monthly 
  • In South Australia, PESCI Assessments are generally run fortnightly 
  • In Victoria, PESCI Assessments are generally conducted fortnightly 
  • In New South Wales, PESCI assessments are held fortnightly
  • In ACT, PESCI assessments are run fortnightly 

To undertake an RACGP PESCI assessment, you will need to provide the following: 

  • Application Form 
  • Position Description 
  • AHPRA CV 
  • Supervised Practice Plan 
  • Copy of your Passport 
  • Evidence of Job Offer 

 

ACRRM PESCI: 

ACRRM conducts PESCI Assessments for Level 1 Supervision and onwards in various states. The frequency of PESCI assessments is dependent on the State in which you are submitting an application: 

  • In Queensland, PESCI’s are conducted weekly 
  • In New South Wales, PESCI’s are conducted fortnightly 
  • In Victoria, PESCI’s are conducted monthly 
  • In South Australia, PESCI’s are conducted monthly 
  • In Western Australia, PESCI’s are conducted based on demand

To undertake a PESCI Assessment with ACRRM, you will need to provide the following: 

  • ACRRM CV 
  • Primary Medical Qualification 
  • AMC MCQ Results or eligible for Provisional Registration via the Competent Authority Pathway 
  • Current Job Offer in an Area of Need and District of Workforce Shortage or after-hours practice or facility for General Practice 
  • Copy of your Passport 
  • Position Description 
  • A Training Plan – if you are applying for Limited Registration via the Post Graduate Training and Supervised Practice Pathway with AHPRA 

 

HWAV PESCI: 

HWAV offers PESCI Assessments for all states and territories in Australia for all Levels of Supervision. HWAV PESCI Assessments are regularly conducted via appointment on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Appointments are available for 9am, 12pm and 2:30 pm. Doctors can generally expect a 4 – 6 weeks wait for an appointment; however, this timeframe can differ depending on demand. 

To undertake a HWAV PESCI Assessment, you will need to provide the following: 

  • HWAV CV 
  • Evidence of a Job Offer 
  • Evidence of a Primary Qualification  
  • RACGP Assessment 
  • English Language Test Results 
  • AMC MCQ Results 
  • Application Form 
  • Signed Consent Form 
  • Payment Form 
  • Position Description 
  • Supervised Practice Plan
