Total Coronavirus Cases –
There have been a total of 27,206 cases in Australia. Of that 24,807 have recovered and 897 have died. There have been 25 new cases in the last 24 hours, with 251 current active cases.

Summary of Changes for November 1st–
Item 13703 is being amended to include intra operative normovolaemic haemodilution as a part of the service. This change will update the item in line with clinical best practice, restricting its use to the intention of the procedure, which is for use in patients undergoing surgery or invasive procedures in which blood loss is anticipated
Chemotherapy items 13915 to 13948 will be replaced with new item 13950. Item 13950 is for the parenteral administration of antineoplastic agents (cytotoxic chemotherapy or monoclonal antibody therapy) but not agents used in anti resorptive bone therapy or hormonal therapy.
Changes to the neurology and neurosurgery services are to align the items with best clinical practice and reduce inappropriate claiming. The revised structure includes: 16 new items; 37 amended items; and 42 items ceasing.
MBS services pertaining to general urology, urological oncology (including treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia), endo-urology and renal stone disease, paediatric genitourinary and reconstructive urology, incontinence and urogynaecology will be changed. The revised structure includes: 20 new items; 96 amended items; and 13 items ceasing.
English Language Tests–
As of October 2020, test providers indicate that testing in Australia is available in all states and territories, except Victoria.
The AMC MCQ Examinations have commenced on a staged basis and where possible.
The AMC have confirmed that they are developing an alternative clinical exam which will be delivered online via Zoom!
The online exam will involve an invigilator, a simulated patient, and the candidate and will be recorded and marked after the exam by an AMC examiner. The alternative clinical examination will still be 14 scored stations and two unscored stations and the required pass mark will continue to be 10 or higher.
AMC intends to provide a date for the recommencement late November. Their current plan is to recommence February 2021.
