Is there a limit on how many Medicare provider numbers I can have?

THIS WEEK’S QUESTION…?

Is there a limit on how many Medicare provider numbers I can have?

According to Medicare, there isn’t a limit on how many Medicare Provider Numbers you can obtain. After a certain amount of numbers, your numbers will have to change (they do their best to keep them as similar as possible, just changing the number & letter at the end).

There is also no limit on how many applications you can apply for via PRODA either…

However! If you are applying for a practice on the same suburb as a previous Medicare Provider Number, PRODA won’t let you apply and you’ll need to submit a paper application.
