Have You Checked DWS Recently? –
DWS location are updated on the DoctorConnet website each year. Traditionally this happens in the month of February, however dates for changes to DWS are not published.
It’s recommended that you check your practice location on the DWS map a few times this month, in case the DWS status changes.
Medicare Provider Number Applications –
Due to current volumes of applications, Medicare Provider Number applications are taking roughly 20 business days to be processed. Please note, applications are processed from the date of receipt.

Upcoming System Maintenance for HPOS & AIR Site –
Across February and March there will be system maintenance for HPOS & AIR sites. This will mean at times access to some reports from HPOS and the AIR site will not be available.

Practice Experience Program (PEP) 01/07/2019 Intake–
Applications for the 1st of July 2019’s intake is currently open and will close as of 8pm AEST on the 29th of March 2019. Placements for this intake will be limited to 200, successful participants will incur a cost of $2,000.00 per term.

Complementary and Unconventional Medicine and Emerging Treatments –
Currently, the Medical Board of Australia is consulting on options to more clearly regulate Medical Practitioners who provide complementary and unconventional medicine and emerging treatments, via proposed draft guidelines.
The draft guidance for Medical Practitioners who provide complementary and unconventional medicine and emerging treatments spans knowledge and skills, conflicts of interest, informed consent, assessment and diagnosis, treatment, patient management, advertising, research and advancing knowledge.
