On November 29, 2017, the Victorian Parliament passed the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017 (VAD). Effective from June 19, 2019, the Act will allow qualified medical practitioners to prescribe patients medication to cause their death if the person who has requested VAD meets strict eligibility criteria and has completed the request and assessment process.

Round 3 of Queensland Health Rural Doctors Upskilling Program (RDUP) now open –
Applications for Round 3 of Queensland Health’s Rural Doctors Upskilling Program (RDUP) are now open and close on 15 July 2019.
ACRRM Independent Pathway applications for October cohort closing soon –

Updates to the Location Specific Provider Number (LSPN) System –
As of July 2019 you’ll find it easier to manage your LSPN. Medicare has created new functions in HPOS so you can manage your LSPN without needing to contact them.
Rural Locum Relief Program (RLRP) now closed. –
RLRP closed to new applicants as of 31st May 2019 however, participants currently enrolled on the program can contact Health Workforce Queensland for change of location applications. The More Doctors for Rural Australia Program (MDRAP) is a new 3GA program that enables doctors who are non-vocationally registered to work in rural regions and access Medicare.
