General Practice Updates

In a constantly changing environment, we summarise the most important updates for General Practitioners.

This week’s summary includes updates from:

  • Department of Health
  • RACGP
  • ACRRM
  • AHPRA

RACGP Exams –

In response to COVID-19 restrictions, RACGP has temporarily postponed all further enrolments for AKT, KFP and OSCE exams. All those already enrolled in an exam will be notified of new exam dates as that information becomes available.

ACRRM-

Assessment Enrolments –

Enrolments for ACRRM’s semester 2 fellowship exams open on the 4th of May.

AHPRA-

Does a practitioner still need PII cover if they are not practising?

If you are no longer practising for part of the registration period, whether due to COVID-19 or nor, you will need at a minimum appropriate run off cover. You are not required to have full PII cover for that period.

When returning to practice, practitioners must remember to review their cover again to ensure they continue to meet the PII arrangements registration standard.

If a practitioner is not working at the moment can their registration fee be refunded, or the renewal fee be waived?–

Unfortunately, AHPRA is funded solely by registrant fee and as they have to continue their important work even throughout this crisis, registrations fees are still non- refundable and registration renewal fees are unable to be waived.
