THIS WEEK’S QUESTION…?

What do I need to be eligible for Post Graduate Training & Supervised Practice?

What is It?

Post Graduate Training & Supervised Practice (ALPS-30) is an AHPRA Application for Limited AHPRA Registration.

How is it different to Area of Need?

It differs from the Area of Need (AANG-30) application as:

  • it does not have the 3-year assessed experience requirement
  • it does not require an Area of Need declaration as a part of the application.

Instead, you provide a training plan.

IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that for this application, your experience will still be considered as a part of the assessment process.

What is the training plan?

Your training plan is a guide for your first 12 months, and should include information about the purpose, duration, location, content & structure of training. It should also explain how your progress will be assessed. It is important to follow your training plan throughout your first 12 months, as it will be checked when you apply for re-registration.

Why would you use Post Grad instead of AON?

You would use ALPS-30 rather than Area of Need if:

  • the location is not a DWS (which would usually affect the practice’s ability to obtain an Area of Need)
  • the practice was unable to obtain an area of need
  • if there is no time to apply for Area of Need
  • if you cannot meet the 3 years of assessed experience.

Hospital based doctors will also usually use this application.

Please keep in mind…

AHPRA will still consider your experience when assessing your application and we suggest caution if you do not have similar experience to that required for AON. We have not had AHPRA specifically state that experience was the reason for rejection however; this is what we are noticing in common with rejected applications!

How can we help?

Our team will always give you our opinion on whether it is safe to proceed with your application- we always suggest caution because we want to see you succeed in your career! If we can help in any way, please get in touch with our team.
