Here at People Medical Consulting we like spreading what we know and giving you a clear pathway to your career. We’re answering a different question each week based on queries raised via our Facebook & Instagram profiles.
When is the best time to do my RACGP assessment?
The RACGP assessment assesses your overseas and Australian based experience to determine whether you’re eligible to sit the fellowship exams with RACGP. It is a requirement for many of the 3GA programs, and it is helpful with your AHPRA applications.
So, when is the best time to get it completed?
We will usually suggest a GP complete an RACGP time assessment for their overseas experience when they’ve left working in their country and they do not intend to go back.
This way, you know how much your overseas experience compares with Australian and how much time you’ll need to complete in Australia before you can sit your exams.
Once you have the required Australian experience, you will get the Australian experience assessed.
Remember that an RACGP time assessment expires after 3 years so if your overseas experience is assessed at less than 1 years then it is likely you’ll need to get your overseas experience assessed again.
Our team help General Practitioners both with finding jobs and helping with the full applications process including finding the best pathway to fellowship for you and your life goals. If we can help, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
